Client Objective

Rubio's Fresh Mexican Grill was seeking to further penetrate the competitive, local quick food service market and boost awareness with minimal investment.

Mediaspot used proprietary research and identified opportunities in key demographic cells of qualitative consumer segments. A customized station analysis was then applied to select television and radio stations with the greatest projected ROI. Mediaspot worked directly with the selected stations to conceive, develop and implement unique added-value promotions that would enhance perceived value and extend awareness of Rubio's Restaurants, without added cost.

Two specific examples of added value follow:

Television:

Mediaspot worked closely with the most watched local news television station in San Diego, and integrated Rubio's into the morning news by creating a live broadcast segment with restaurant founder Ralph Rubio and the news anchor. This particular segment featured Ralph showing TV viewers how to make Rubio's World Famous Fish Taco.

Radio:

Ralph Rubio and Danny Bonaduce, morning show host on a major LA radio station, teamed up to raise money and awareness for The Lili Clair Foundation (LCF) by grilling carne asada and carnitas tacos for listeners and fans. 100% of the proceeds were donated to LCF, a non-profit organization that provides resources and assistance to people born with neurogenetic disorders. Ralph and Danny chatted on numerous occasions during the morning show to promote this event, which proved a huge success, raising funds for LCF and awareness for Rubio's.

Results

The unique added value solutions and promotional opportunities developed and directly negotiated by Mediaspot successfully boosted measured brand awareness in selected local markets at no additional cost to Rubio's.
